Mt. Joy

Mt. Joy is an indie folk-rock band that originates from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but calls Los Angeles, California their current home. The band was organically constructed and is led by the talented duo of Matt Quinn (vocals, guitar) and Sam Cooper (guitar). Mt. Joy gradually grew from a rekindled childhood friendship into a full-fledged band with the addition of Michael Byrnes (bass), Sotiris Eliopoulos (drums), and Jackie Miclau (keyboard).

Drawing inspiration from artists spanning a multitude of genres, Mt. Joy merges the heart and soul of folk music with the energetic and jovial beats of indie rock. Their influences range from the raw emotion of Bob Dylan to the eclectic sounds of The Beatles, and the indie vibes of Alabama Shakes.

Their breakout song “Astrovan,” a rock-infused folk ballad, is quintessential of their style. Other songs that capture their essence include “Silver Lining,” a vibrant and hopeful anthem about overcoming personal struggles, and “Jenny Jenkins,” which is laden with warm, emotive lyricism.
